Honeymoon help
I am starting to think about a honeymoon location for late November 2005. Would Australia or New Zealand be a good place to visit that time of year? What is the weather like? Also, any itinerary suggestions or advice about Australia vs. New Zealand. We'll have about 2 weeks. Thanks!

Hi Jodi,
Well, we have neither traveled Oz nor NZ, yet. We are planning our vacation for December 2005.
However, from my one month of research, I would suggest traveling to either Australia or NZ. Two weeks is not enough time to see both.
I would suggest looking through guidebooks and deciding what exactly you want to see--Scenery? Reefs? Mountains? The Outback? Cities? Wine regions?
After about a month of research, we have decided to incorporate Sydney (we have friends there), Canberra, Uluru, and the Cairns area of Australia, and the Queenstown/Fiordland regions of New Zealand's South Island into our 3-5 week itinerary. While it was difficult to decide, I must say it was fun to do the research! Good luck.
Liz

I'm with Liz on that. Two weeks will only get you a passing acquaintance with NZ, never mind and Australia (in terms of distances, think of trying to see the highlights of the US in two weeks. You'll need to be selective.
It will be early summer in November and generally warm to hot, although coolish spells can't be ruled out in NZ and southern Australia. Australia's climate ranges from cool-temperate to hot-dry to tropical and everything in between, NZ is mostly temperate but with alpine regions.
Raid travel agents and haunt the Web to get an idea of what regions and activities most appeal to you, then buy a travel guide covering the country you've decided on, and use the search function on this forum to get advice on particular regions.

November will be stunning - it is a great time of year, late Spring into Summer. Totally agree with above comments - you simply cannot do both. I would allocate 1 week in Sydney and then up to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef etc for the second. This should give you a great mix of touring and chilling out following the stress of the wedding day and lead up.
Good luck!
