Hi Greg,

I think you'll be able to find all the information you'd need about cruising on Princess' website.

As far as tours go, not knowing your interests sort of limits an opinion, as well as the quantity of so many tours offered in each port.

I can tell you that it's better to book them in advance, as that's what your fellow passengers will be doing, and you're on a big ship, so the tours will fill up, especially if there are offered that limit the size of the tour to a maximum number of people.

Hope this is helpful!

Cruise Critic Message Board is great...go to the Roll Call section and see if there is a thread for your sailing...there will be lots of port information being shared there.

Also look in the Ports of Call section for the different ports. You will get ideas there also. You can do some of the ports, if no all, "on your own" also. For instance, Wellington comes to mind, It is easy to walk or get a cab to the sights, no need for a ship's tour there. It is a small visitor friendly city and the ship docks downtown. At some ports, Princess offers a shuttle into town from the dock...from there you can explore on your own if you want.

Lots of options...do some research on each port...many times you can do, "on yor own", what the ship is offerring for way less money! Start by reading about what the ship is offerring at each port on the Princess site then look up the sites that interest you on the internet...you can then figure out what is the best approach for you....doing your own thing like walking around, booking a local group/private tour or hop on/off bus tour, getting togather with some ship mates for a small group private tour or doing a ship tour.

Hi cleondann. Will you be visiting in December or June?
You should not need a heavy coat in Byron Bay in June - perhaps just a light coat or jacket for the evening when the temperature can drop into the single digits C. Daytime will still be fairly warm and a sweater should suffice.
