Curious about Tahiti
Hi, We have just planned on a trip to Tahiti next June. What is the weather like at that time? I understand it may be winter there? Will it be swimming weather perhaps? We are going on a cruise to Tahiti, Mooorea, Huahine, Raiatea, and Bora Bora. We will be on Renaissance cruises. I am interested in hearing from anyone with knowledge of weather and this particular cruise. What kind of things are there to do? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The weather in Tahiti is pretty much the same year around. It rearly gets higher then 30C, and cools down somewhat in the evening. Definetly swimeable weather.
Check out these two sites for more information about Tahiti:
http://www.tahiti-explorer.com/ (click on Travel Forums on the left side)
http://www.polynesianislands.com/wwwboard/fp/

I was in Moorea in June of 2000 and it is winter then. But it was wonderful. And that is the best time to go. It was pretty hot and dry. I understand it is hotter, steamier and rainy in their summer.

We spent the entire week on Moorea so I can't address your other questions. But I loved it there and would return in an instant. The only thing I would change would be to stay longer because it is a really long flight to just stay a week!!
The Society Islands are in the Southern Hemisphere and it will be winter in June. It will be like visiting Mexico, Hawaii and the Caribbean in Winter. In other words, the best weather. During summer in all can be extremely hot and humid, therefor, Winter should be 80 and fairly dry. At least it was when I was there last month.

It is an excellent time of year to be There. Bring a lite sweater for the evenings. It may rain, get humid, but it is a "summer" rain. We were in shorts or lite clothes most of the time we were there(July) Go to relax. snorkeling is great. Don't pay to go "feed the eels" Do take the circle island tours - it is a great way to see the sites. We did this in both Moorea and Huahine, then rented a car to back to where we wanted to go. They do speak english quite well. It will be a trip of a lifetime! We rented bikes on Huahine and had a Great time. There is a place named "white house" I believe it is on Huanine that is great for gifts and for yourself - good prices.
Fobors does a good job of telling you about the sites. I also pickedup a good, pocket travel book at Barnes & Noble.
