1st Trip to Australia - Could you please review our itinerary?

Hello,

My husband and I are going to Australia for the 1st time in late April. We live in Boston and can only spend 9 nights. We know this is too short, however, we figured 9 nights would be better than none!

I have been reading all of the posts on this board plus reading a few books. Our goal is to see a few different regions of Australia, while being realistic of our timeframe. We are in our 30's and are really looking forward to snorkling, hiking and exploring Sydney.

Can you please let me know your thoughts? We welcome any feedback - good or bad! I want to make sure I'm not entirely off base with this itinerary....

Flights:
Fly from Boston to Cairns (via LA and Sydney)
Cairns to Lizard Island and back
Cairns to Wrotham Park Lodge and back
Cairns to Sydney
Sydney to Boston (via LA)

Hotels:
3 Nights Lizard Island
2 Nights Wrotham Park Lodge, Queensland
4 Nights Four Seasons, Sydney

Thank you in advance for your input. This board has been so helpful to us in planning our past trips.

You have made a good choice.
My wife and I are in our 60s, we visited Australia in September 2005 and returned 9 months later (no, she did not become pregnant), we just loved it so much. Sydney has easily become our favorite city.
Cairns is also quite nice, You will find 9 days to be short, especially in view of your very loooong flight, but it will be worth it. Plan your days well, as they will go by fast.
Enjoy your trip!

Love it! Sydney, GBR and not too distant outback from Cairns.

Mried.. i hope you have a wonderfull holiday and we know you will love every minute of it. You have chosed well and when you come back next time try ElQuestro _Kimberley region WC, they are also managed by the Voyager Group...best time is end of May , June.In fact do some research on the Gibb River Road section of WA, it is our favourite part of Australia. Our home is a little town called Brunswick Heads , just 1.5 hrs south of Brisbane, magic beaches, lovely river at high tide, close to ByronBay and we only have a population of 1800.
I will keep an eye out for your future posts

Thank you so much for your feedback! I now feel very comfortable with our itinerary.

One last question....Does anyone know if we can fly:

Cairns to Lizard Island
Lizard Island to Queensland
Queensland to Cairns

If at all possible, I was hoping to cut out the extra leg from Lizard to Cairns.

Thank you again for your replies.

Mried .... Cairns is in Queensland (which is one of our States, not a city)

I think you're trying to get from Cairns to Wrotham Park .... and if so, this link will give you the options.

It looks great, please let us know what you think when you get home. Looking at their website, I can see how anyone would be confused about it's location, though. You might suggest to them that they add their nearest town as a guide in future publicity
