"Wonders of Burma"
The Smithsonian Channel aired a two-part series titled "Wonders of Burma" last night. Did anyone else see it? The program captured the landscape of the country beautifully. Much of it focused on the many Buddhist temples found around the country and they looked stunning. I don't think I've seen temples this impressive anywhere. I wanted to book tickets immediately after I saw the program.

I didn't see it, but will see if I can stream it.
I agree the temples in Burma are stunning, and quite different from other Buddhist temples in SE Asia and each area of the country has different temple styles. The temples in the Mrauk U area are like fortresses, the ones in the Inle area have unique iconography, and there are still about 2000 temples on the plains of Bagan.
We expect to return (yet again) in 2017.
When you are ready to plan, I'll be glad to help.

Kathie, it is worth watching if you can get a hold of it. Not only was the videography amazing, but they did a good job with the historical and mythical narrative. And wow on a return trip in 2017. This would be your fourth trip, right? As for my own travel plans, I'm thinking of returning to Asia, either Burma or India, in late 2017 or late 2018; I'll be sure to reach out.
Jacketwatch, glad you saw the program. The Angkor Wat two-part series is good as well. Didn't watch it last night, but have seen it on previous airings.
