Where to go in Vietnam?

Hi, I've heard a lot about Vietnam, I would love to visit it with my husband and 6 yr old daughter.
I have zero information on where to go or to stay?
We like luxury resorts with nice beach and a little bit with nightlife, something like Phuket?
I live in Australia so I'm not also sure which airport in Vietnam I should catch the plane to? Please I need some help.
I'm planning to go in September for 2 weeks.
Thanks

Vietnam has a lot of coastal cities and I suggest Nha Trang and Da Nang city. Because you go with a little girl, Da Nang may be the better choice. It has a long line of beach with white sand and blue crystal water. Besides, Asia Park was built in recent years with many interesting games both for children and adults. It's really stunning and the scenery is like castles in the fairy tales. By the way, Asia Park is not too far from the beach and it takes 15-20 minutes by taxi.

Da Nang has small islands and mountains too with the great view and services, which helps you experience amazing different things just in one city. Da Nang is also known as the most deserved-to-live city in Vietnam.

It has Da Nang International Airport, so it's easy for foreign tourists to get there.

September may be in the early of rainy season in Da Nang, so if it's possible, you should go in July or August.

It's quite difficult to help you coz you have no information about Vietnam's tourism. Firstly, you should try to search on google: vietnamtourism.com, and looking for the information of their famous destinations. I think it's easier when selecting some places to go. Some popular destinations for foreigner tourism is Halong bay, Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Da nang- Hoi An, Hue,etc.
Next, you should contact with a travel/tourism agent, they will help you plan your trip.If you are interested in, I'll give you some detail of a few of Vietnam reputable travel agent.
In terms of airport, I highly recommend Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi minh City) and Da nang (Da nang City). They are all international airport and they have the beelines for you.
Hope above useful for you!

September is best time to visit Vietnam. With 2 weeks in Vietnam, you can visit around from north to south but you'll travel with your children 6 yrs, i think you should not move much because it make her tired. You can visit north of Vietnam such as around Hanoi a week: Hoan Kiem lake, Temple of literature, Trang Tien ice-cream (your daughter will like that lol), Bat Trang, Duong Lam ancient village.

Happy travels!

There are some airlines flying into Hanoi and out of HCM city that you can choose such as Tiger airways, Jetstar Pacific, Singapore airline. With 2 weeks, for me I will spend 1 week in Hanoi including Halong bay, Ninh Binh or Sapa, 0,5 next week for the central such as Da nang or Hoi An and the rest for the south.

Check out the weather situation. It is not, as stated by adrianlopez above "September is best time to visit Vietnam" far from it!

Have a look at http://www.selectiveasia.com/vietnam...ther/september

Vietnam does not have any Phuket equivalents and the beaches are simply not up to the standard of Thailands. It does, however have some 5 * hotels similar to those found in Thailand.

The vast majority of people will fly into either Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. Many will fly into one and out of the other and explore what is in between. Not sure if there are direct flights so you may have to fly via another hub. We used Air Asia from Sydney

I suggest you do a little more research and, if September is the only time you can travel, consider other destinations, especially if beach time is important to ypu

@adrianlopez<<<September is best time to visit Vietnam.>>>

We were in Hue for 5 nights 13-18 September 2015, and almost washed away for the duration by a tropical depression.

But apart from those 5 days and nights we had generally excellent weather in Saigon, Da Lat, Da Nang, and Hoi An

If you know zero about "where to go", you should start with this website's Destinations section which you can see at the top of the page. Or click here: http://www.fodors.com/world/asia/vietnam
Doing some reading may help you decide for yourself not just where to go, but also why. I liked Vietnam enough to visit twice.

@lancasterlad There's no "best" time to visit Vietnam as different parts of the country see very different weather patterns but September is the best overall time to visit weather wise.
