What is the best three-four day easy/moderate Annapurna Trek?
Ten years ago my husband and I visited Nepal but stayed mostly in the Kathmandu area. We're hoping to make it back to Nepal in October or November 2012, overland from Tibet, and I'm beginning to research short easy Annapurna treks. Any advice on which is the best 3-4 day trek? No camping but beautiful scenery (if the mountains are clear!) and interesting villages. Tips on reliable trekking outfits would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.

What company is arranging your trip overland from Tibet? They should be able to recommend a local trekking company. Personally, I'd prefer a local company in Kathmandu rather than a company that sets up all kinds of travel all over the world. I think you really want a specialist.
If it was me (and it isn't) I'd get some recommendations over on Thorntree, plan for a few extra days in Kathmandu, then make my final decision after interviewing several trekking outfits in KTM.

Thanks for the advice and yes Kathie, I will arrange everything through local companies. I'm only beginning to formulate plans, but I'll hire a Tibetan company for Tibet and a Nepali (or is it Nepalese?) company for Nepal (Darjeeling and/or Sikkim if I can fit them in as well). Last time - 10 years ago - we used an Indian travel agency ( we traveled in India as well but the name of the agency escapes me, I'll have to look in my folder) that hired Four Season travel out of Kathmandu for the Nepal part of the trip. They did a fine job so I'll contact them first but will get more than one quote.
What I'm really looking for is advice on which 3-4 day hike out of Pokhara or the Annapurna area that is the most rewarding considering it isn't extreme trekking we're after. I've read about a couple at least - The Ghandruk trek or Gurung village - that keep coming up when I google. I'm just wondering which offers the best views and village encounters. Are there others? We don't necessarily have to confine ourselves to the Pokhara area but we only have time for one trek. Does anyone have experience with short treks in Nepal?
I'll check on Thorntree but I like Fodorites better

Greetings jahlie - the following is a heartfelt personal endorsement for the great staff, porters and high altitude climbing Sherpas of Wilderness Experience, based in joyous Kathmandu, Nepal.
Mind you, it's been a few years since I had the honour of climbing with said Sherpas and fine climbing buddies on some 7000 and 8000 metre mountaineering expeditions in Nepal and Tibet. On those expeditions, a certain 'Mr. Deepak' with Wilderness Ex. was instrumental and invaluable in coordinating all, from KTM (and Tibet) to various base camps and well beyond. Great guy and wonderful climbing colleagues. Give the place a shout - suspect they will be able to set you up just fine for what appears to be a straightforward trek without any technical climbing involved. (And will add : weather permitting, spectacular scenery on your proposed adventure.)
Have fun in a special part of the world. (And I'll always have fond memories of flying Thai J in/out of KTM - and most kind hearted masseuses at the Yak and Yeti; post-climbing bliss, indeed.)

We were in Sikkim and Darjeeling in Nov/Dec. Sikkim was fabulous... Darjeeling less so. If you click on my name, you can find my trip report. We aren't trekkers, but we met some people who trekked in Sikkim. Sikkim isn't set up for trekking the way Nepal is with the tea houses. But it is clean, scenic and uncrowded.

Kathie, actually reading your trip report to Darjeeling and Sikkim was what inspired me to add those areas on to our trip, provided we have the time. It was a wonderful report with loads of valuable information. We aren't trekkers either, that's why a 3 or 4 day EASY trek is what we're looking for.
I'm still in the early planning stages - you know how that goes - so it's possible I'll change it up a lot. I checked out Wilderness Experience's website - it's nice and they offer the Royal Trek outside Pokhara. Thank you AskOksena.
