Visa Service Referral Needed
I am wondering if anyone can recommend a visa service for my visa to India. Cox and Kings Global Services who contract with the Indian Embassy are awful. Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated

You may think Cox and Kings is awful, but they will be who processes your visa - no matter what you do. You can add a visa service on top of this if you would like. I used Travisa back in the day when they held the contract for the Indian Embassy and I thought they were excellent.
I'm surprised that you are having problems with Cox & Kings, as the reviews I've heard from other travelers have generally been good. The previous contractor, BLS, was truly ghastly - stealing passports, in fact. Back when BLS was processing visas, there were people who found using Travisa was helpful in ensuring that they got their passport back.

I've read so many negative nightmarish stories re: Cox and Kings. Did you do the e-visa or did you mail in everything? And, how long did it take for you to get your visa? Lastly, thanks for your response.

I've not gotten a visa from Cox and Kings. I got a 10-year visa a number of years ago through Travisa.
I'd take the "nightmarish stories" with a grain of salt. (are these reviews all on TA?) I understand that BLS employees were instructed to post terrible reviews of the new contractor. Given the posts by BLS employees here praising the services of BLS, I have no difficulty believing that.

I highly recommend ambassadorpassportandvisa.com/ as a visa expeditor. We didn't use them for India because we got the Travisa 10-year visas a while ago. But friends recently used them for same-week Indian visas without a hitch. Ambassador also obtained a Chinese visa and extra passport pages for me overnight, even though I did not pay for the expedited service. And my son's company worked with them to get him a last-minute Brazilian visa. Their rates are reasonable and they are basically miracle workers.

I can personally recommend C&K. They performed quickly and efficiently for me (ref. my comments in the thread "Visa for India" on this forum). This is my personal and recent (within the 2 months) experience. What prompts you to say they are awful?

You can apply for the e-visa if you are eligible for it. You can check the information on the Indian government website.

I just entered a response to your other visa post - Cox and King in SF was great for us a couple weeks ago. We got our visas couriered to our home within 72 hours of submitting our application.
The e-visa is only good for one entry - if you think you will be wanting to go to India more than one time, or over a longer period of time - the e-visa may not be for you.
