Vietnam vacation home rental - can we still wander around?

Jump to last reply

Hubby and I are planning a trip to Vietnam this December over our 2 teenage kids' 2-week Christmas break. Would it be sensible to rent a house somewhere along the central coast for one of the weeks and be able to make day trips to see things or are the distances too far? If it would make sense, can you recommend a town that would be close to important places to see and have enough resources (restaurants, sites, shops, travel offices, transportation) to make it a good choice? Would we be okay renting a car to make the day trips or should we take bus/tours?

I know the distances are pretty big to try and cover north to south so we are concentrating on central and south. I don't want to kids to have to sit on buses for 4 hours every few days, but is that inevitable on a trip to Vietnam?

Thanks!
