First thing: turn off your Caps Lock.

I've been to Hagi. Why are you going there? It is a relatively large time commitment to travel there, so you need a good reason to go there specifically (and given the amount of time you have).

Getting from Hagi to Itami airport for a same day flight is a bad idea.

I was trying to create an interesting itinary. Have been in Japan for about a week three years back and toured toyko and kyoto areas. Looking for a different experience. Thought of going south and south west. Would you suggest Takayma are(north) instead or Kurasaka?

Interesting and less travel time than Hagi might be a combo of Takayama, Shirakawa-go and Kanazawa. Of course I push Kanazawa because we live there, but it is a nice city, and S-go is special.

Ok, since you didn't mention the pottery in Hagi then I suggest you give it a pass. It is an interesting small city with a lot of pottery shops and kilns, I suppose. Easily walkable. The castle was torn down a long time ago and there are only remnants of the foundation. In a park-like setting, so it is a nice visit. Small, not a whole lot of foreign visitors, and it seems a bit less affluent than other parts of Japan. Might be better with a San-in coast tour, stopping also at Matsue and Izumo, maybe Tottori and that area.

Kanazawa, Shirakawago, and Takayama are all good ideas (all 3, 2 of 3, or just 1). But you'd need to rearrange the timing. The trip from Miyajima to Takayama is a long one (done it).
