TRAVEL TO INDONESIA IN OCTOBER

Has anyone heard about visa on arrival? We are traveling to Indonesia to visit some friends. Our flight will arrive in the evening. Would it be possible to apply for visa on arrival so late in the evening? or would it be better for us to apply for visas through the Indonesian embassy here in the US?
Thanks for the help.

Which airport are you entering Indonesia? Most international airports in Indonesia offer visa on arrival. It's quick and easy. As immigration and passport control have to be open for all international arrivals, it doesn't matter what time your plane arrives, you'll be able to get a visa on arrival.

What Kathie said - I've been about 8 times and always been able to get one on arrival.

Great!

Thanks for the responses. We will be arriving at the Cengkareng International Airport.

Any areas in Jakarta we should avoid? Is water safe? I am traveling w/ a 3 yr old.

My opinion would be to avoid Jakarta altogether unless you have specific reason to visit. There are many nice hotels and upscale, western style shopping centers, but there's not much in the way of tourist attractions.

The tap water is not safe. Drink only bottled water from a known source.

I agree with marmot, I would go elsewhere in Indonesian rather than visit Jakarta unless you are visiting friends or family there.
