Terryr's daughter's question about returning to BKK from Vietnam

My daughter, who is now living and working in Thailand, has been unable to register on Fodor's in order to post a question herself on the forum (why is that, Fodors staff??). She has asked me to post the following to you seasoned Asian travelers.

She will be traveling to Vietnam at the end of this week and flying into Hanoi. She would like to see Da Nang/Hoi An/Hue, which are cities on the coast in the middle of the country, but can't find a cheap way to leave the country from there. She would prefer not to take a 14-hour bus ride back to Hanoi. She was wondering if you all have any suggestions about how to find cheap flights from the middle of the country back to BKK?? Thanks so much! She will be reading your replies back.

Terry

Terry, there used to be a once or a twice a week flight from DaNang to BKK. I don't know if it still exists. She might also fly from DaNang back to Hanoi or Saigon (and then back to BKK). As I remember, those flights are fairly inexpensive. There are also trains in VN that are reliable and cheap.

PB Air fly directly from DAD(Danang) to BKK(Bangkok) 3 times a week. You can book the flight via the Thai Airways website, code share as TG 3199. I got a one way price from DAD - BKK at US $238.90 from the Thai web site.

Hanuman, thanks for coming up with the flight info. I had planned to take this flight a couple of years ago, then my plans changed, so I couldn't remember which "small" airline it was.
