Is it hard to find a taxi that can hold 5 people in saigon and danang? I would love to walk around on our own instead of on a prearranged tour but that means we'll have to take taxi's. I don't want to split our group up if we can't fit into one vehicle. At least with a tour you are all guaranteed to fit in one vehicle.

You'll have a hard time finding a taxi that will hold five people. But you could get a van and driver for the day in each place. Any local travel agency can set one up for you. No need to do a tour.

In Saigon there are lots of minivan taxis. WE had a group of 6 at one point and often traveled together. If you are in your hotel, they can call for one, and out on the street we were able to easily hail minivan cabs.

Wow - we didn't see a single taxi minivan in Hanoi! A good reminder of how different cities are within a country.

I havene't been to Hanoi, but my fellow traveler Mari808 says they are like two different countries in many ways.

I'm sure you are right, lcuy. It's a good reminder to me not to generalize to the south what we saw in the north!
