Sleep On The Great Wall? (near Beijing)

I am wondering if anyone's slept on the Great Wall somewhat near Beijing?? If so, do you have recommendations of guides/tours/hotels to do it through?

It is illegal and not viewed positively by the Chinese. See this link: http://www.chinasmack.com/2009/pictu...reactions.html

@JPDeM, I don't intend sleeping on the wall nor do I intend offending the locals in my other actions while in China.

However, the xenophobic undercurrent and denigration of "laowai" in the comments to that China Smack article are very concerning.

This was the worst example, but it was not alone:

"I haven’t been to the Great Wall yet, and dammit, seeing this I don’t want to go anymore! And good Chinese?! If I go and see those bastard “laowai” eating, drinking, shitting, pissing, sleeping on the Great Wall without giving them a beating, then I would not be a good Chinese person! Those who do not go to the Great Wall are not good Chinese, but those who go and do not flatten those foreigners who insult the Great Wall are truly not good Chinese!"

Are those representative of the majority of Chinese?

Hopefully not.

Cheers, Alan, Australia.

Understand that under the anonymity of blogs people say things. I see worst in blogs in western media. Generally Chinese are very helpful and respectful of foreigners although some still remember the humiliation they suffered for many years when they were invaded and their country essentially destroyed. You will be reminded this if you visit the old Summer Palace.
