Quake and Tsunami in Japan

The nuclear power plants at Fukushima have been hit again:

I hope our friends in Japan are safe.

Interesting, the initial report said there were no problems.

Thanks, Kathie. Like thursdaysd, I had seen only initial reports suggesting minimal impacts.

Best wishes to all.

I'm in Japan, near Kamakura, so some distance from the epicenter, and didn't feel a thing.

OTOH it is snowing heavily: the first snow in November since the 60's and the first time it has settled in November since records began.

@ someotherguy: I'm glad you didn't feel any effects of the quake in Kamakura. Do you think the weather is related to the quake? Why?

Apart from volcanic ash, I'm not aware of any short term causal relationship between geologic processes and weather. The coincidence of two rare events obviously indicates supernatural intervention.

Wow, I was in Kamakura right before I left last week. Sounds like I left just in time. I did notice the tsunami evacuation signs, not just in Kamakura....
