Nusa Dua Hotel and visits
Hello,
I am planning to go to Bali and stay in one of these hotels mith my 2 children (14 and 17) by end of october:NusaDuaBeach,Sheraton Laguna,Sheraton Westin,GrandBali Hyatt or Clubmed.
What do you recommend?
What are the "must"to visit if we alternate day of visit with day of beach?
thanks

If Nusa Dua were my only option, I'd stay at the Sheraton I think. Pools look gorgeous. Lagoon rooms have direct access. I would, however, spend at least part of my time in another part of Bali, as Nusa Dua is a planned tourist enclave. I really love the area in and around Ubud.

Depending on the interests of your children, there are cultural attractions such as Besakih temple and Bali Agga villages, or there's rafting on the river near Ubud, which can be done as a day trip from Nusa Dua. Also take in the Kecak dance at Ulu Watu temple one evening. DO NOT just see what the hotel puts on.

Are you restricted to just the Nusa Dua area? If not, consider another location. Nusa Dua is very sterile, as Kim says, a planned tourist enclave. There are other beach areas that are more Balinese - like Sanur. And of course, many people believe Ubud is the heart of Bali. Whether you stay there or not, do visit Ubud. The Barong dance at Batubulan is also worth a stop.

take a look at the bali hyatt in sanur....so much nicer to be in a small town rather than a tourist enclave....grat beach and tons of room for the kids to run around in or laze around and right on a huge beach....several pools too and other activities....good eats there and near-by
hire putu for your driver for a day or two....

Ubud is not the small village it used to be, but is quite busy. Right in town, the Komaneka is nice and a little oasis really. I prefer the places that are slightly out of town. You could look at the Tjamupuhan, Ulun Ubud, Alila, Maya, Pita Maha and Royal Pita Maha, Ubud Village Resort...the choices are endless for every budget and taste. I love Alam Sari and their website is very helpful even if you aren't staying there for tour and activities ideas.
