My India.

I was just 19 when I first time put on my backpack to travel out in the world. I went to India, and was blinded by all the colors, the happiness and people who surround me from my first moment in Delhi. It was something so different than what I know from back home. It didn't take me long to love India for everything the country have. I went around in North and saw the Himalayas, I saw the desert and Jodhpur, and then I made full stop in Udaipur. I love all of India, but Udaipur was so magnificent. I stayed for two months. I volunteered with families, young people, older people. It all didn't matter, because we were there for the same reason, to offer our help to those who needed it. We worked at local schools and in villages...

I went home but came back few months after, and that was the biggest thing in my life, that my kids remembered me, and they seemed happy to have me back. I have since travelled in other countries, but nothing have my heart like India and especially the volunteer organization I worked with. I have travelled all the way from Leh to Kanyakumari and back to Mon. And I love all the different places - but Udaipur is like a second home for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
I have also travelled all over the world, and find that I am drawn to India . Perhaps it is because India is a microcosm of the world-- there is great diversity of people, cultures, religions, history that goes back to the start of Aryan culture. Parts of India are still tribal -- like the north east, and there are pockets of tribal culture in other places too. Also some of the cities have the most modern conveniences available . If you look closely, almost everything is available and possible in India . It is unfortunate when some people choose to focus only on the negative . Despite the many problems India faces, like poverty and lack of education for the masses, it continues to move forward. That has not stopped India from being a leader in the IT and technology world. Given the complexity of India and it's people, isn't it a miracle that India continues to be a flourishing democracy.

It's no wonder that India tourism motto is "Incredible India ".
Once again, thanks to you Petricia for shining a bright light on India .
