Kristina and Krismom's trip to Thailand and Cambodia
Greetings all from the Star Aliance lounge at LAX.
We are waiting here for our flight to depart to Bangkok.
If you'd like to follow along on our trip, you can check here periodically where I hope to give updates, but the details and photos will be on my website:
http://www.wired2theworld.com
We'll be spending 3 nights in Bangkok at the Royal Orchid Sheraton. During our time there, we have a day booked with Tong and hope to see the "9 days in Bangkok" photography exhibit among other things.
Then we fly to Siem Reap where we'll stay at the Victoria Angkor, and spend some days touring with Ponheary.
In addition we're bringing with us the $2225 we've collected for the Ponheary Ly Foundation and will be taking uniforms and supplies to a far out village school near Koh Ker. We'll also get to finally meet the lovely Lori in person.
We then fly back to BKK for another day at the ROS and then I go home and Mom is off to Chaing Mai solo.
So, if you'd like to follow along, stay posted.
PS. I assume this will clear me of any penalties?

Hi Kristina - we "met" a few years ago when you went to Sicily.
We were in Thailand and Cambodia earlier this year and had a great time with Tong and Dara - say hi to them from Liz and Richard!
Have a great time and we'll follow your progress.....

I can't wait to follow your trip blog! I'm likely going to take my Mom to Morocco in 2 months, and I love to read others comments about traveling with their moms.
Ponheary said I should come back to Siem Reap with my Mom. If all goes well in Morocco, I might just take Mom to see Angkor Wat in '09.
Have a great time!!!

Enjoy your trip! I can check out your blog while I'm traveling to some of the same places. We're in BKK now and the weather is great-very comfortable temps and low humidity. I'm hoping SR is the same and looking forward to meeting Dara also and visiting the temples and school.

Hello from the ROS "Link" lounge.
We've arrived and are waiting for our room to be ready.
The flight was fine and I will be posting all about it later.
Had a coffee at the French Bakery around the corner-coffee was awful, but the mini croissants and pain au chocolate were fab.
My mother will be posting from her blog about the trip, so y'all might find it interesting to read the dual perspective.
Her blog is www.nickelmoon.blogspot.com
Nothing there yet about the trip, but hopefully something later.
Weather here is lovely so far...

Well, for some reason the ROS wifi will not let me send email nor upload to my website, so no web updates yet, sorry.
Spent 12 hours with Tong yesterday. What a crazy, funny, lovely lady she is! I heard all about her recent times with other Fordorites. She was even carrying the bag Bob gave her from our Pasadena GTG. Gpanda, it seems we just missed each other at the ROS!
Anyway, we made merit with monks, went to the floating market and ate amazing food, and visited the Tiger temple. I would not visit any of these places without Tong; she made the experience incredible. She knows everybody and even all the animals know her, from the stray dogs along the canals for whom she buys cooked food from the vendors, to the goats roaming the tiger temple, and Bam Bam the bear, everybody loves her.
Kathie, I thought of you yesterday. I know you've never done a tour when you come here, and neither have I, but I really recommend you consider hiring Tong next time you come. Even if you've been to the places before, you will experience it in a completely different way.
Jet lag is kicking my butt. Up at 4 AM two days in a row.
Today we hope to see the photography exhibit and tomorrow we go to Siem Reap.

Kristina, we thought about setting up a day with Tong this trip, but didn't get around to it. It turned out that was a good thing, as Cheryl spent all of her time on our second stay in Bangkok dealing with food poisoning.
There is always next time!

Hi Everyone!
I have succeeded in posting to the website. All I needed was a direct cable LAN instead of the wireless.
I've posted our travel day on Thai Air and all the text for Day 1, but only about 1/3 of the photos.

Lori-We come tomorrow! Can't wait!!
Gpanda, we did not arrive until the morning of the first.
Made it to the photo exhibit today-really spectacular!
