Hi all,

I'm a woman living in the UK and wondering when the best time to go to Japan would be. I've never been before and have just started researching it. Because of my job, I can't take holidays during the summer (late May until late September). I usually take them around Easter but due to work commitments, it may be better to wait until later in the year. What would October/November be like in terms of the weather and tourist attractions being open?

October/Nov is excellent. Go after the first of Nov to maximize your chances of seeing the koyo (fall colors). Mid Nov, the koto was at its peak in Kyoto.

We went in late October/early November. The foliage was just starting to burst at the end of our trip. Some days were rainy, others were overcast, but there were sunny days too...

Ok, thanks! Flights are very expensive at that time compared to the spring - is it a more popular time to go?

Spring is also an excellent time to go. If you go at the end of March/beginning of April, you have a chance to see the cherry blossoms (sakura), which is a major event in Japan.
