Honeymoon
My fiance and I are trying to decide where to go for our Honeymoon. It will be in late November of 2005, and we're thinking of going somewhere in Asia because we've never been to that part of the world. We'll have 2 weeks. Any advice about where to go? Thanks!

I suggest Thailand for these reasons:
- It's relatively cheap. So, you can stay at the best 5* hotels and resorts there without breaking the bank.
- People are very friendly, and most areas are very safe.
- You can split your time in Bangkok, which has quite a bit to see and is pretty exciting; and in one of the beautiful beach resorts.
- It will still be pretty warm in November.

Thailand is a great suggestion - u could do Bangkok & Phuket or Bangkok & Koh Samui. Or you could do Bangkok, Hua Hin & Chiang Mai. Another option is Bali. To fly into Bali you will probably fly via HK or Singapore so you could combne the 2. In Bali you could split your time between the beach and the mountains (Ubud). Loads of earlier posts on all these destinations to give you some ideas.

thailand is a good central place from which you can travel out to other areas like: angkor wat, vietnam, myanmar (burma), indonesia, malaysia, singapore to name the major ones...
thailand itself offers beach, city and up country lifestyles...
generally it is very hot...november is the cooler time of the year, but it is still very hot and humid throughout the country as is most of south asia...
economy---while one spends more on a honeymoon than he might on a usual vacation trip.; in thailand you can get lots of bang for your buck...you can stay in 5* places, as mentioned above, for the price of 3 or 4* places elswhere....
the peninsula hotel in bkk is #1 in asia in many surverys and you can have a room there for less than $200 most of the time...the oriental the gem of the orient is more expensive but less than $100 more...a marriott is maybe $125...
lesser hotels are as cheap as $10 and many are $50-100...
many have beautiful pools and tropical gardens, even in the city...
shopping is unsurpassed in bkk and other thai places, like chiang mai...
thailand offers white water rafting, mountain biking, elephant trecks, foot trecks, walking, exploring caves, snorkling, diving, etc, etc...the beaches are lovely on the mainland and on some off shore islands: koh samui, phuket, phi phi, krabi, hua hin, pattaya....

We too are planning our honeymoon in Thailand in late Nov 2005. We are doing BKK, Chiang Mai,and trying to decide which beach area to go to. Where are you comign from? As of right now, we are staying at the Four Seasons in Chiang Mai, going to actually try Priceline in BKK, and going to splurge on a nice resort in whatever beach area we decide on. Thailand is a great destination. As mentioned already it is cheap, the food is great, people are friendly, you can do both big city and beach vacation etc. My wife and I have been to Thailand twice and it has been some great trips. If you want just great beaches then you should think about the Maldives. My wife and I went there in April this year and it was stunning. It was so beautiful with white beaches and blue water. I have posted trip reports with pictures from both destination on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com. Maybe you can find some useful information there.

It's definitely Thailand....Bangkok and the north....Chiangmai...I haven't been to the beach areas in Thailand...it doesn't interest me a whole lot being from Southern California with the beach at my disposal all year round. Happy Travels!

Jodinews-Two weeks in Asia is actually 12 days, you lose two days in travel from US. Only 1 day lost from Europe or Australia. Assuming 12 days, I suggest 5 days Bangkok, 3 days in Angkor Wat (Sien Riep) and 4 days at the beach (in November either Phuket or Hua Hin). This gives a good mix of sights and relaxation. Thailand is very cheap compared to US, Europe or Carribean. If you decide to go 5 Star route, you will be amazed at how cheap the hotels are (except Phuket). The food is exquisite and cheap. For relaxation, the pool and Thai Massage. last time I was in T-land, I got 10 massages in 12 days. We promise you will love Thailand. We went there for the trip of a lifetime and now we go back every year.
