Greetings from Lynn - I'm Back from 3 weeks in SEA!

Hi All - <BR> <BR>Yes, we had a blast. <BR> <BR>Yes, I bought crap loads of stuff. <BR> <BR>Yes, I'm glad to be home! <BR> <BR>We arrived Sunday morning at about 8:30am at LAX. <BR> <BR>Just wanted to say hi and tell everyone that I'm hoping to have all my trip notes completed by the first of the year. I now lots of people are planning trips for January and February so I'm going to try to finish them in time to help. <BR> <BR>In the mean time, we spent lots more time in BKK and 3 days each in Chiang Mai and Singapore. <BR> <BR>If you have any quick questions on these places, email me. <BR> <BR>I'll post a new thread when my new notes are finished and ready to be emailed. <BR> <BR>Also, to all of you who requested my '99 trip report while I was gone, I'll be sending it out within the next few days. <BR> <BR>Hope all is well. <BR> <BR>I'm so glad it's cool and dry at home! I'm so sick of hot and humid!! <BR> <BR>Lynn <BR> <BR

3 weeks jetting between major tourist traps in SEA hardly makes you an expert. there is no way you could have seen anything of the countries in the short time involved. <BR>yeah i got a few questions: how's the trade in child prostitutes from north thailand into bankok? <BR>what's the muslim uprisings in indonesia like? <BR>are migrant workers in singapore still living in disgusting conditions? <BR> <BR>thought as much....

Lynn, <BR>can you tell me where to get a girl in Bangkok. One between 12 and 14 would be best. Also do you know how I can get a automatic rifle out of Cambodia by makeing it look like an ash tray. I`ve heard this can be done. Thanks.

Lynn, <BR>Ignore the two replies immediately above your last message. They were posted by some of the bored backpackers on the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree list. The person who posted ha been boating to his friends on the Thorn Tree, in the Lots of Festive Fun forum about how clever he is: <BR>'Re: Trouble <BR>have a look at 'lynn' getting flamed at fodors under 'asia', just waiting for her reply!' <BR>The list is at thorntree.lonelyplanet.com in case you're interested. It's not very useful as a travel site - mostly bored juveniles chatting with each other at their employers expense and posturing about being 'real' travellers. <BR> <BR>

Its all true though. You people are all a bunch of narrow minded bus tourists. You don`t see anything real. You only think you do. All the plastic tourist traps. Bet you never went anywhere in your life that had no tourists. Bet you never went to a avrage income, non tourist workers home. You people make me sick. If clowns like you stopped traveling there wouldn`t be so many tourist cons out there. You make it hard for all of us!

I find it really interesting that all of these crap-dumpers write under a pseudonym. Cowards, all of you!! What is this new snobbery in travel about - reality check for you spoiled little brats - if you leave your home to travel YOU ARE A TOURIST IN THEIR COUNTRY!!At age 50, I have worked damned hard to afford to put kids through school and travel and it's about time some respect was given to ALL travellers - not just those snotty little bastards who think that they discovered the world!!

Who are you or anyone else to judge ? I am interested in the report no matter where they travelled to or how touristy it was.Closed minded people like you who post such negative comments should take a one-way to Siberia! You have no idea what type of constraints others have that may keep them from getting off the beaten path, how do you know that this trip was not just a testing of the waters. How in the world can you say that people that travel to well touristed areas ruin it for others? If you don't like it go somewhere else, don't sit there and whine about it !

lin_gitterman. If that is a real name i`m John Lennon. But thank you and also Mr Lee for proveing my point. It was so great for you 2 to come along and show the world what us real travelers have to put up with from you plastic tour bus go nowhere tourists. Stop wasteing your money and stay at home and order a Thai takeaway. Give the rest of us some peace.

....... <BR> <BR>Those of you who have responded on this thread in the defense of all types of travel I couldn't agree more. <BR> <BR>Isn't it interesting how many different points of view can be found on the same subject? <BR> <BR>My husband and I like to travel to lots of different places and we always travel independently. None of our travel is even close to being true "adventure" travel but I know people who would disagree. <BR> <BR>A few people I know consider even getting on a plane to anywhere in Asia "adventure" travel. I know a lady who thinks Paris is a questionable destination. She told me should would go to London but would have to think twice about Paris. <BR> <BR>To me, this sounds ridiculous. But she thinks I'm crazy going to places like Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and especially Thailand. <BR> <BR>C'est la vie! (I hope I spelled that right) <BR> <BR>Happy New Year! <BR> <BR>Lynn <BR> <BR

TO MR. REALITY - [email protected] <BR>Lynn went on a VACATION not a social pilgrimage. You do the clean-up let others have a nice holiday. The ugly American in you wants to impose your values and morals on the rest of the world. It does not work - it will NEVER work. Take care of you own back yard and leave other nations to take care of theirs.

My may aren't there a bunch of bitter and angry people out there answering a posting of a nice woman who had a great time on a vacation. Ol' [email protected] seems to be just that 'brainless'- bet he can't get a nice girl here so he's looking for a 12 year old as brainless as he is. While Author UH, [email protected] needs to get on a soapbox somewhere far far away - from here.

Hi Roger - <BR> <BR>You're doing great! <BR> <BR>I must admit I've been bitting my lip on this thread and trying to be diplomatic. I'm sure these people are just aching for me to start cyber-screaming so, of course, I CANNOT give them the satisfaction they are looking for. <BR> <BR>I appreciate your efforts on my behalf! <BR> <BR>Lynn <BR> <BR

Mr. UH <BR>It appears that all that money you're saving on non "touristy" travel isn't being wasted on spelling and grammar lessons. <BR>I have traveled the world since my days in university (20 years ago). I used to backpack and do all the things that you talk about doing in your travels. Now I stay in 5 star hotels. My travel is no less "real" than it was 20 years ago. You are a childish fool. Grow up and enjoy your travels and let other people travel the way they want to. It is none of your business.

Reply to Derek: Succinctly put, Sir. In fact, I will take it one step further and state that the appalling lack of manners and attention to grammar and spelling on these sites quickly negates the opinions of nameless and faceless writers. As for you, Mr. Uh, might I suggest that you change your name to Mr. Duh!
