i think you are right kathie, but my point was that you would no longer have to pay it seperately before going through immigration.....
i should have been more clear on that...pitty i don't live in cambridge where everything is crystal clear...

I think you're wrong about it being included in the ticket price. It is going up to 700 Baht, but the last information I had was that you still had to pay it at the booth outside immigration. They will work with the airlines to get it in the ticket price later.
There was an editorial cartoon in yesterday's The Nation showing someone suggesting they raise it to 1,500 Baht to cover the cost of repairs.

The fee has been raised to 750 Baht
All passengers departing from Thailand on or after 02/01/2007 will NOT be required to pay the fee at the airport, it will have already been included in your flight tickets.

I just returned from BKK today. They are raising the fee to 700 baht and it will be built into your ticket. Thank goodness, I had to lend money to a broke guy or he was not going to get on the flight!!!
