Bangkok - Weekend train excursion to Kanchanaburi and/or Nam Tok

Everybody knows that there are scheduled trains from Bankok Thonburi train station every day to Kanchanaburi, and on to Nam Tok.

But relatively few tourists are aware of the Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holiday excursion trains which leave from the main station, Hualamphong.

Details here...

If you plan on taking advantage, and intend staying on the train to Nam Tok, then make sure you sit on the left hand side, in order to take in the spectacular scenery between Kanchanabuuri and Nam Tok.

Beautiful area. Been 3 times and could go again. Not sure why it doesnt get promoted more. More scenic than Chiang Mai and a lot closer to Bkk.
