Bangkok experts - What are your favourite Thai dishes

I have seen plenty of recommendations on the board for restaurants in BKK of which I have taken note, but I would love to know what are the Thai dishes you always order when in BKK.

We are both reasonably adventurous in what we are prepared to order and enjoy "hot and spicy". About our only limitation on what we can eat is that I am allergic to mushrooms.

one of our favorites is fried morning glories with garlic....roughly translated that seems to be a stemmy spinach type veggie....its like the vines of a morning glory with leaves...quite delicious---the best we have had is at harmonique....each rest. does it slightly differently...

we love yellow crab curry without the crab shells...

tongue thai's chicken and cashew is the best we have had also....

fried fish of any kind or broiled or grilled....you get the whole fish by the way, head, tail etc...

shrimp of any kind, except i can do without the dried shrimp except in some dishes... i prefer the medium sized one....i find the giants dry and almost tough....

house rice dishes...

pulled noodles....

mango and sticky rice for dessert is about as good as it gets...

ice cream is very good in thailand....

larb, which is a salad sort of thing that is ground chicken, shrimp or meats which is served with a tangy sauce on a bed of lettuce usually...hot and pungent...

i find most of the veggie dishes that are fried or steamed with sauce or without to be bland....i love veggies too...

My favorites are Som Tam (Papaya salad), Yam som o (pomelo salad), Pad Thai (taste different in every place) and the dessert with the coconut milk and water chestnut.

I love the fruits in Thailand too. I love tamarind and Loong Kong (spelling?)

I also love the roasted coconut juice on the road side which they crack a bit and put a straw in.

so many options! I love the green curries, and look for interesting flavor combinations. I've had green curries with tea-smoked duck for instance or another was a sugar-cane smoked duck, both fabulous. I also like the Penang (or Panang) curries. I also love the Banana Flower Salad, and the green papaya salad is always a treat. We had an amazing eggplant dish at Lemongrass this last trip, though I don't know what it was called. Face has an interesting sauteed duck and kaffir leaves. A traditional appetizer is miang kum, where you are presented with a pile of leaves, and a series of condiments to roll into the leaves in various combinations (dried shrimp, lime, peanuts, coconut, thai peppers, shallot, and a sauce). I love coconut ice cream, but beware - the version at Jim Thompson contains corn and hot peppers.

Prawns in red curry sauce (with the little green peppercorns on branches)

Green Papaya Salad

Chicken Cashew

Chicken soup in coconut milk with lemon grass and lime leaves

Any whole BBQ Fish

Fried Bananas with Coconut Ice Cream

Fresh Mangos (forget the sticky rice)

Fried Morning Glories

We had a fried rice dish, served in a pineapple, included pineapple and cashews, delicious.

Yum, now I'm longing for some of those dishes.

We enjoyed sweet and sour seafood, cashew chicken, eggplant and minced pork with basil, green chili chicken, fried morning glories and of course pad thai.
