Airport to Bangkok

Does anyone know how much it should be by taxi from the airport into Bangkok?

If the driver uses his meter it's 200 Baht.

We also paid 200 baht - the meter was 150 + 50 baht airport charge from the airport to the Regent. We got charged 400 baht to the airport on one occasion because we didn't know better and the taxi driver told us he wasn't allowed to use his meter to the airport - it didn't make sense to us and we later found out that it was false.

It depends on whether you choose a taxi (everyone is right about making sure they use the meter) or the Thai Limo stand in the airport terminal. Thai Limo is about 400 baht for a Volvo or Mercedes sedan, which means lots of space for luggage if that's what you need (I always do!). It's a flat rate you pay at the Thai Limo desk.

About 43 baht to the US dollar. So the 400 baht taxi ride is under $US 10.

We paid 600 Baht at the Thai Limo stand recently! We were exhausted and forgot that we should go outside the terminal and not deal with anyone inside. Only did that once!
That's correct about the 50 Baht airport charge - we actually paid 250 baht, not 200 for a metered taxi. Sorry about that.

Here's a trick we learned:
Go upstairs to the "departure" area and grab a taxi that is just letting someone off. The driver will be happy to have a quick fare back to Bangkok and it should cost 200-250 B depending on traffic and tolls.

You should also keep in mind that your fare will vary depending on what time you arrive in BKK. If it's late at night the expressways won't be busy and you can get into the city quick and easy. However, during the day the roads are choked with traffic and your fare will be higher. I arrived at midnight and my fare to the Pratunam area was around 180 with surcharges I think.
