About a week in India. need some advice
I apologize in advance this is alot
I am In the planning stages of making my India trip into a reality.
My trip will be the last week of February into early March
my itinerary looks like this:
arrive in New Delhi very early in the morning its looking like
after we get our hotel the plan of sites looks like this over a two day period:
Presidents palace, Indian gate, Qutab minar, safdurjung tomb, Humayun Tomb
Akshardham temple, Lotus Temple, Jama masjid,
Sikh temple, Lakshmi Narayan mandir, iskon temples, Chandni Chowk, curious about the garden of five senses: Said-ul-ajab?
From NEW DELHI we will be driven to AGAR to spend one day there:
first stopping at Fatehpur Sikri, then Mausoleum of Akbar and then Itmad-ud-Daulah's tomb, Taj mahal, and last at agar fort
From AGAR TO JAIPUR:
maybe making a side trip for a visit to the tiger safari in Ranthambore.??
JAIPUR:
Amber fort, Hawa Mahal, Albert Hall Museum
plenty of shopping here.
Im not entirely sure where to go here. don't want to spend more than a day here.
Take an overnight train to AMRITSAR:
see the golden temple and boarder area and leave. I'm thinking a half a day at best.
From Amritsar I will be going to the town of Bang, Punjabi where I will be staying until I leave to fly out of Delhi.
I have never made an overseas trip before so any advice or corrections would be deeply appreciated. Im stuck planning this by myself for everyone so any help is useful. Thank you

If you want to see as much as possible book yourself a tour. Or is it a tour you're describing? They can manage the logistics of many stops when an independent traveler cannot.
If you're traveling independently you have too many places for a week. I assume you mean Agra, not Agar, since you mention the Taj Mahal.
If it is a tour then you'll be taken from one place to another and don't need to know much about the stops. Otherwise, "Im not entirely sure where to go here." doesn't make much sense. If you don't feel drawn to a place and know what it is that draws you then remove it from the itinerary.
For a week traveling independently in India I'd say 2 locations are about right. Otherwise just ride a train for the week as that's pretty much how it will look. Do your homework and narrow your sights. Or make more time. India is worth a slow pace so you can see it.

If you didn't get the implied message from the above poster, I advise you to set your own agenda and do (much) less. Forget about the Ranthanbore safari, for sure. Pick the places that most intrigue you and do them...

What they said. Of course, allowing just a week for India makes as much sense as allowing just a week for the US, probably less. You have time for Delhi, AGRA, and maybe one other place, tops.
I see from your other post that you are going to India for a wedding. Indian weddings are usually elaborate, multi-day affairs, how much time are you allowing for that? Given the wedding, I would say Delhi, Agra and the wedding, although Delhi is not my favorite place in India. Forget Jaipur, it is quite out of the way and will take too long to reach.
Rather than stopping off in northern Europe in March (likely cold, wet, grey, miserable) I would spend the whole time in Inida, but perhaps you have already bought your tickets.

Your itinerary looks pretty cramped up. I'l suggest that you stay for long in India to see the real beauty. If you have time I'll suggest that you also visit udaipur & jodhpur. It will surely be an amazing experience.

Wow, I need to start spell checking before I submit these. Sorry. I sort of have a flexable time schedule for this. I was allowing a week for just site seeing, the wedding would be in Banga and is not part of this week really. I have not booked any tours yet. I was first trying narrowing down what we wanted to see(that's what the list Above is). When I said I don't know what to do here in Jaipur I meant I dont know what else I would have time for and i havent really researched that place. Ill talk to my group and see about shortening europe for more india time. Delhi and Agra are a must for us and of course Banga.

You mentioned that this is your first overseas trip. India is not a usual destination for first time travelers, but clearly you don't have a choice. Have you talked to the people you will be meeting in Banga about their recommendations? India is major sensory overload and often total chaos. Traveling can be slow. You need to pace yourself. Also, spend some time with the guidebooks. Given the location of the wedding and your interest in Amritsar, I might head for the hills rather than Rajasthan.
