2 day extension for a solo holiday after Taipei business trip
Hello I have a 2 day business trip scheduled in Taipei in early November. I'm considering extending by two days for a solo holiday. Any tips /advice on what I should do ?
I've been to Taipei many times for work before ; and been to the Museum, the historical monuments, night markets. So i'm open to going beyond Taipei -- from how I understand it, trains are easy and fast ; and t here are quite some nice places to visit outside Taipei.
I prefer having a "nature" type of holiday -- in the mountains, forests, villages -- with some easy and pleasant hikes, etc. I'd rather not go to another city! I've read about Wulai and Shitoshan but would rather get some inputs before I start doing some researching and planning!
I've been to Taroka gorge on holiday by the way, and I also do not speak chinese
Thanks
Eric B

A few options are the Taroko gorge near Hualian, the Alishan area or the area around Guanziling. Check teh travelogue of our recent trip to Taiwan:

Taroko is easily reachable by public transportation, while for the other two places it's better if you rent a car.

Alishan is strongly recommended, you can see sun rise, sun set, sea of clouds, mountain forest railway, tea farm and Thou indigenous tribe.
If you need any information about transportation or accommodation, please feel free to send me a message.

Autumn is the best season to see sunrise in Alishan. You could also taste food tea at this time.
Tainan is another place you could not miss, where is the oldest city in Taiwan. Well-known for its food, slow-living style, old buildings, Tainan is a city you could spend a few days staying in.
