Onetravel.com

I found this site <www.onetravel.com> & its fare is a lot cheaper than Travelocity. Does anyone have experience booking with them & are they reliable? On this flight to Europe, Onetravel is cheaper by about $100, same airline, same flights.

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. I've noticed that consolidator sites don't include taxes and fees, and that somehow, mysteriously, their taxes are more than what you would pay on that same flight directly from the airline.

I have bought domestic tickets from them a few years ago and didn't have a problem then.

However, I'm not so sure about them now. Recently bought tickets to Budapest and they were coming in much lower on our itinerary than the other sites, as you're seeing. When booking though, I could NEVER get the actual price listed. Over and over, I'd go through the whole deal and then be told that my itinerary wasn't available. Up the price went $50. Choose from newly suggested options, key everything again, up the price went again until it passed everyone else's price. No one home at the phone number listed. Three days later, they were still listing the original greatly discounted rates and still not letting you book them.

I bought elsewhere (direct from AA)

Hmmmm!!! It certainly doesn't sound too reliable from what Clifton had to say. I hope I'll hear someone with a good word about them because they are definitely a lot cheaper.

echo168: In the summer of 2002, I was searching diligently for decent airfares from the European continent (Cologne, Brussels, Amsterdam or Frankfurt) to Cairo. Onetravel.com ended up with a fare on British Airways from Brussels to Cairo (connecting at London's Heathrow), and returning to Brussels on the same itinerary, for hundreds of dollars less (per ticket) than any other site I could find. In fact, onetravel.com's price on British Airways from Brussels to Cairo via London was even less than their price from London to Cairo on the same airline and was less than what I could find on the British Airways site from Brussels to Cairo. I couldn't figure out the logic of all this but I purchased the tickets through onetravel.com and, upon receipt of my British Airways confirmation number, immediately called British Airways' U.S.A. toll-free reservation number to confirm that they did, in fact, have a reservation for us. It turned out that the tickets were legitimate and all I needed to provide at check-in at the British Airways counter in Brussels was the British Airways confirmation number. So I guess you can count me as a satisfied onetravel.com customer. Although I was admittedly a little suspicious at first, it all worked perfectly for us and at the same time saved us about $600 on the three tickets. I haven't used them since that trip in 2002, although I always check with them to compare their fare offerings with what I can find elsewhere. So far, on other itineraries I've been interested in, they haven't offered anything better than the airlines themselves. Anyway, here's wishing you the best of luck in finding a decent airfare to your desired destination!

Echo, I'd say that if their site lets you book them at that price, you'll get the tickets. They are clear about fees and taxes up front. Worse case is that it won't let you actually buy at the advertised price and use bait and switch to move you to a higher price.

I don't think the tickets themselves would be an issue. Hopefully.

Clifton, David:Thank you for your inputs. The most important thing is that Onetouch.com is legit. I am looking to fly Newark to Malaga return in November & I'm at an early stage of planning. I'll definitely give them a try if I should decide to make that trip. Just curious, has anyone ever heard of anyone being scammed on the internet re anything to do with travelling?
