Is AA $312 fee normal from CDG to SAT?

I don't remember AA charging high fees for AA flights from CDG to the US. Now they are up to $312.00. I know how BA gigs us to/from the UK,
but didn't recall AA did the same -especially from Paris! Has it always been this way. I flew CDG to SAT in 2011 and don't recall paying that fee. Maybe I did and memory is faulty!
Thanks!

Could you please post the fare construction line from your ticket. That will provide a breakdown of fees and taxes and then someone here can answer your question accurately.

That doesn't sound right, are you sure there isn't a BA flight somewhere in the mix? The web page might say AA but in smaller print you might see the service is BA.

Just for fun I pulled some dates out of the air and looked up SA/CDG, excluding all BA flights. The fee is only $96.30 so I'm betting what you saw involves BA on at least one flight.

Suspect the savvy P_M has nailed it for you. Airlines don't set taxes and regulatory/facility usage fees, rather just collect what is established by the taxing authority. It's just like when you go to the department store and at checkout sales tax is added to your total. Variation in total cost to consumer results from the dastardly airline- imposed additional surcharges/fees like BA's fuel surcharge.

Thanks ;for your replies. I did contact AA about this and was asked if perhaps it involved BA. But, when the rep checked, she saw the same thing I did--both legs were AA. I've been back in AA Advantage site since then and can't see that flight at all!! Was #99 AA from CDG to ORD. Don't recall the flight number from ORD to SAT. Anyway, looks like it may have been a glitch of some sort. Can't find any AA flight#99 at all. Now I find lower fees-both legs AA. Thanks for your research., fellow travelers!
