BA, Iberia to merge

Word is out today that the British Airways and Iberia boards have agreed to merge, with the current CEO of BA to be the CEO of the new company, and BA to control 55% of stock v. 45% for Iberia. Details are still emerging.

Thank you for the article link, Gardyloo. Has there been any speculation on what this could mean for their One World partner, American?

Sure, there's plenty of speculation; but nothing public. Early days.

But AA's focus right now appears on (a) getting anti-trust indemnity for its JV with BA/IB (IBBA? Briberia?) and (b) working to keep JAL in Oneworld and out of the clutches of DL/NW.

Thank you, Gardyloo. Yes, that would be a shame for One World to lose JAL.
