AA is offering great fares

<i>I meant to post this here originally, but somehow posted it on US forum first</i>

South Florida to New York - $116.70 all in (mid-Sep to mid Nov)

New York(JFK) - San Francisco(SFO) - 137.70 all in (Oct-through Nov?)

Obviously the fares work in reverse

The JFK-SFO fare is gone. It's back to $216 R/T, still a nice fare.

The TPA-LGA is still available.

Their $540 fare for WAS - KIX this winter is excellent. It's ~$622 with taxes for Mon-Thu departures thru March 17. Beats their fare to Tokyo by $180.

<b>mrwunrfl</b>,

Booked that for next January and February with a stopover in Honolulu both ways.

TPA-ORD-HNL-KIX-HNL-ORD-TPA for $642. All the domestic segments should clear for free upgrades (EXP ) but I will have to suffer in steerage on JAL (AA codeshare) from HNL-KIX-HNL. Oh well, it's a small price to pay for almost 20K elite qualifying miles plus another 20K as elite bonuses and 1K booking bonus. All for under $1300 with couple of days in Hawaii and Osaka.

Every year about this time AA has a special fare to Asia. Last year it was BKK through NRT with JAL codeshares. Did a Labor Day run with bunch of fellow FlyerTalkers(<b>www.flyertalk.com(/b). Had a great time! I paid around $625 with VIP upgrades to NRT and steereage on JAL to BKK. JAL was uncomfortable, but as you probably know, we will do anything for miles!

This year it's KIX and the HNL option is great. I will arrive in HNL at 4pm on day 1 and fly to KIX next day at noon. On the return I get into HNL at around 9am and don't leave till 10pm. Two nights in Osaka. Any suggstions, advice about Osaka would be great. </b>

That's going to be a heck of a trip, AAFF. UA will offer Japan fares like that, but the sale will start later and not last as long. The NetSAAver fare ($139) beats the E-Fare ($158) for DCA/IAD to ORD this weekend.

Just put my tickets on hold (until 08/15). The fares are still available. You can extend your time in Honolulu for several days both coming and going.

What amazed me is that the fare from DFW to KIX (Osaka) is only around $17 more than just purchasing a RT ticket from DFW to Hawaii.

I bought the UA ticket tonight for IAD to ORD leaving Sat morning and returning Sat nite for $158. It's 1158 miles + 1158 Premier Exec bonus + 2500 miles for the D.C. promotion + 1000 miles online booking. Plus some miles for the rental car and charging to the MP Visa, gets it over 6000 miles. Only 1158 EQMs, but it adds two more segments to the Go Around the World offer. Forecast is for a nice day (of horse racing) in Chicago, unlike the hurricane(s) that are coming here.

Got another cheap fare, $207.90, DCA-CLT-LAS and return. Earn the minimum of 500 miles between CLT and DCA and 1910 for CLT - LAS. That's 4820 round trip. Qualifies for the D.C. Triple Miles for Go Fares offer, so it is 14460 miles + 1000 online bonus. That's 1.34 cents per mile. Don't care about the EQMs. This trip will get my Dividend Miles total to 120,690 just enough for a first class award to Asia or Australia. Last weekend I flew DCA- PIT- PHX- CLT- DCA for $229 for a fun weekend and about 13700 Dividend Miles.

It was the 80s, I think, the last time I flew USAir. Back then it was like riding a bus in the sky. Things have improved, I think. Was able to get exit row seats on A3xx when checking in online.

So, I am enjoying the competition for D.C. area flyers that results in both low fares and extra bonus miles.
