We are in Africa Now
I want to thank everyone who answered my many questions over the last year as I planned our trip.
We arrived in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe on March 27 after a 20 hour trip from Bangkok. We are really only doing a taste of some places, as you will see. This travel plan is working well for us, though it isn't for some people. We just got internet service again here in Cape Town so I am a little behind with the posts, but I do have most of the South Africa Safari time up.
We are now in Cape Town till Monday when we fly to Tanzania for a Safari with Killiwarriors. From there we will go to Dubai and then Egypt.
We are doing a daily blog, posting daily adventures with pictures as we have internet access for our family and friends. If any one is interesred in this or any portion of our round the world trip, please check our blog. I will not do a trip report now as the internet can run up a big bill, but you can follow along with us on the blog.

Thanks again...we are having a blast!

Thank you so much for the post ... I read the entire blog so far, and I am fascinated with your travels. I am very interested to read about your safari in Tanzania, and also about Dubai. Your pictures and your writing are very descriptive, and make sharing your experience a pleasure. Best wishes on your travel days to come.

Destined2, Thanks for reading. Glad you enjoyed the report.
We leave for Tanzania in the morning at 6:30 and will fly all the way to Arusha before we stop tomorrow...assuming the three flights work as planned.
We will be with Killiwarriors till the evening of April 13 when we fly late night to Dubai. I doubt we will be albe to post anything till we get settled in Dubai on the 14th.
For those who don't want to read the whole blog, our Tanzania plan is one night Arusha, one night Gibbs, two nights Serengeti Sopa then finally three nights Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. We have a private safari with Killiwarriors.
We are really looking forward the Tanzania part of the trip. If it is anything like what we had in Kruger we will be delighted. We had a ball on both parts of the South Africa safari and would do that again in a heart beat!

Asante sana for posting your blog and safari njema (I am prepping you now, in a very corny way, for Tanzania). We met Wilbert and his family several years ago when we were in Arusha--very, very nice people. I hope you get a chance to spend time with them.
Wow, your trip is fantastic. Enjoy!

I'm busy reading your blog right now.
Just a clarification. The only nuclear powerplant in SA is Koeberg in Cape Town. Another big issue with the power is the theft of cables and illegal tapping into the grid (mostly in townships). Add to that an exodus of qualified engineers, infrastructure that's not being maintained and the fact that the capacity is not increased, means trouble.
What you saw outside of Johannesburg is coal powered plants. 90% of South Africa still generate power through burning coal.

Thanks for reading and commenting.
Mrs AK...The plant looked like a nuclear plant...that explains the pollution we saw in the area.
We are on the ship now sailing through the pirate infested waters of the Gulf of Aden. I have finnally got the blog up to date with all of Tanzania report and pictures posted. Sorry some of the pictures are a little hard to see, but they are straight from our camera, not croped of color corrected. We have justed zize for email so they will post faster.
Thanks again for reading...enjoy...we are!
