Tour Companies to Egypt

There have been a number of posts on the Imaginative Traveller tour company. Has anyone tried any of the others mid-priced or high tourssuch as Globus,Abercrombie, Maupintour or TWA Getaway. I'm thinking of going in February.

I apologize for the typos in the above message. I am interested in mid-priced to high-end tour companies. Thanks.

Noreen - we have travelled twice with Maupintour to Greece, Turkey and also Kenya, Tanzania. We have always been thoroughly happy with them. This time we have chosen Museum Tours to visit Egypt also in February. Contact me if you wish their web site.

Noreen, another really good tour company that I have used for several years is General Tours. They are always reliable, have great programs and I've never had a bad experience with them. Globus on the other hand.....
Rosemary

We just returned from the "Legendary Nile" tour through Isram Travel. It was excellent. There was only one other couple on the tour with us, and our Egyptologist guide. We booked through our travel agent, but they do have a web site.
Shirl, I would love to hear more details (hotel, cruise ship, sightseeing highlights, etc.) about your tour with Isram Travel. We are thinking of travelling with them on their "Legendary Nile" tour and would love to hear an unbiased assessment. Thank you!!

Melissa--The "Legendary Nile" tour was exactly as advertised with the exception that the Egyptologist recommended a $50 optional trip to Memphis and Sakarra, which was very good. The Nile Hilton was very nice; our beginning and ending stays both had rooms with balconies overlooking the Nile. The Diamond Boat was not luxurious, but quite adequate. Our Egyptologist guide was excellent. The transfer person at the airport and drivers were all very good. We had no complaints except that they didn't tell us ahead of time that we would have to purchase bottled water even with meals at the hotel and on the boat. Also, they hadn't told us about a dress-up Egyptian night on the cruise ahead of time. Other than those minor details it was great.
Louise - Did you ever go on the Museum-Tours trip to Egypt? We booked it for next May. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Wow - that was a while ago. Our trip had to be canceled as my husband passed away. It ended up my niece and I went with Maupintour. It was a fabulous trip.

This forum is great. I goggled Museum-tours and saw your post - I figure if the company is still going strong after 10 years, it must be pretty good. I am sorry about your husband, but happy that you are continuing your travels.

I went w/ Maupintour a few years back and it was one of the best tours I have ever done.

We saw everything and as a single I never was stuck in a lesser room. Always had the same kinds of rooms as the couples, even on the boat.

I paid for nothing extra as everything was included and many many nites we ordered off menu in the hotels.

Maupintours has a great 16 day itinerary- the only problem is they have only three departures a year, and none of them are in April or May which is when we take vacations.
