Need assistance with 9-day Lebanon-Syria-Jordan Itinerary

Jump to last reply

I am in the early stages of planning my first trip to the Middle East. I will only have 9-days on the ground, so I need to be judicious about designing an itinerary. I know I want to visit Beirut, Damascus and Petra. I have also heard good things about Byblos, Lebanon, Aleppo, Palmyra and Krac des Chevaliers in Syria and Wadi Rum and the Dead Cities in Jordan.

If you were planning a 9-day first time visit to these 3 countries, how would you divide your time among these cities?

Will I only have enough time to visit Beirut, Damascus and Petra? I do not want this trip to be done at breakneck speed.

How do I get from place to place? I have read that I can take the Syrian bus system from Beirut to Damascus. Is that right? How would I travel from Syria to Jordan?

Finally, I will be flying from NYC. What city should I fly into and which city should I fly out of?

Many thanks.
