I don't know where to buy the sim cards but a lady on my trip to Africa in Sept carried a card cutter that she bought from someone on ebay for $7 or $8. In Kenya they didn't have a micro sim card that was needed for the iphone 4 and she used this cutter to cut the larger one to fit and it worked in her phone.

I meant to add that they may have the micro sims now and the tool wouldn't be necessary. But if you are counting on using your phone and can't verify that they have the micro sims you may want to take a card cutter with you.

Last August the Safaricom store at the airport did not have micro sims and would have had to cut them. Since we were touring Nairobi the next day we stopped by a safaricom store near Sheldrick/Blixen Museum and got the micro sim there and they filled the sim there. We used the micro sims in our 3g iPads. We had good email access in most every place except it was spotty at Lake Nakuru.
