Kenya,Tanzania and Zanzibar Travel Tips
TANZANIA:
Your Safety
Tanzanians are well known for their friendly, laid-back attitude. In most cases you will be humbled by their hospitality despite the fact that most people are a lot poorer than you. As you travel in the touristy areas, you will probably attract your fair share of souvenir hawkers and beggars. Remember that these are poor people who are trying to earn money to feed their families. If you aren't interested then say so, but try and remain polite.
Basic Safety Rules for Travelers to Tanzania
Make a copy of your passport and keep it in your luggage.
Don't walk on your own at night in the major cities or on empty beaches especially in Pemba and Zanzibar.
Don't wear jewelry.
Don't carry too much cash with you.
Wear a money belt that fits under your clothes.
Don't carry a lot of camera equipment especially in the major cities.
Beware of thieves posing as police officers.....read more....
ZANZIBAR
As is the case in Kenya and Tanzania, you need yellow fever and typhoid inoculations before travelling to Zanzibar Island. This must be done at least 10 days prior to departure, however, if possible, try to have it done timeously to avoid any possible side effects that could negatively affect your holiday. A yellow fever inoculation is valid for 10 years, and so should you recently have had one just remember to take along your certificate.
Consulting with your personal qualified physician is recommended for medical advice on prophylactics that should be safe for you to use. Your closest travel clinic will also be able to provide you with medical advice.
It is also advisable to take a mosquito repellent, and to cover all exposed areas of your body (e.g. neck and arms) during night time. Wearing light colored trousers and long sleeved shirts can also reduce the risk factor. Studies have found that the malaria mosquito is mostly active at night or in dark areas.....read more....
KENYA:
Visas:
Nationals from Commonwealth countries (including Canada and the UK) do not need a visa to Kenya. Tourist visas are valid for 30 days, but they can get it at the airport or border crossing when they arrive in Kenya.
A single-entry visa costs USD50 and a multiple entry visa USD100. If you are planning on visiting just Kenya, then a single-entry is all you need. If your plans include crossing over to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro or visit the Serengeti, then you'll need a multiple-entry visa if you wish to re-enter Kenya again.
Immunizations:
No immunizations are required by law to enter Kenya if you are travelling directly from Europe or the US. If you are travelling from a country where Yellow Fever is present, then you will need to prove you have had the inoculation.
Among the most important vaccinations highly recommended when traveling to Tanzania are:
Yellow Fever
Typhoid
It is also recommended that you are up to date with your polio and tetanus vaccinations. Contact a travel clinic at least 3 months before you plan to travel.....read more...

Great info that has been published over and over. But big error. A single entry Kenya Visa will give you your time in-country, can go to Tanzania or Rwanda and RETURN TO KENYA WITHOUT NEED OF ANOTHER VISA. That multi-entry Visa is often for business travelers and I don't believe you can purchase on arrival.
