You can see the location of the transport dam on this map (south of Skukuza). I visited on my lap south from Skukuza in May 2000.

I thought the program last night was great - not too much rehashing, as I was afraid might be the case, and interesting comments from the vet and the other animal expert, as well as from the safari guide. The enhancement of the video was really good; even though I'd watched the Youtube segment a couple of times, I got a much clearer view of the happenings. I also loved the comment of the professional photographer, who said he wasn't really jealous, but he couldn't help wishing he'd been there with a tripod and a great long lens!
During one of the commercials I ran to get a map of Kruger so I could place this. We've been within a few miles of there, maybe even at that exact spot! Wow!

Thanks for the link. I thought it was interesting that they had tried for some time to sell the video, with no luck.
I went to Transport Dam a few weeks ago to try to film the sequel--no luck, but I did get to watch some elephants playfully bathing in the dam. There were actually 3 dagga boys at the dam when the breeding herd of elephant showed up, but they weren't about to take on the whole herd. Good for them, bad for this (very) amateur videographer!

Too bad about the lack of sequel Gritty.
Youth and inexperience seemed to be the explanations for this unusual encounter. An inexperienced buffalo leading the herd and young lions on the attack.
It was a good show.
