Sorrry but just loved this,it was part of a children safari and says
Africa’s small 5:
Ant Lion, Rhino Beetle, Elephant shrew, Leopard Tortoise and Red Billed Buffalo Weaver.

So clever, and reminds us that there is so much to experience.

While on safari in Tanzania this past June/July, our guide helped us look for them. We found 2 of the 5.

I have only seen two -- plenty of buffalo weavers, and at Savuti, we stopped to dig up some ant lions (and I learned if you reverse the binoculars, you can look at very small insects).

I've seen them all. However, the leopard tortoise i've only seen twice....(Kwara and Mala Mala)

Ele shrew just once. (kenya, i think)

The other three are probably more common.
