Peumayen Lodge & Termas Boutique

$$$ | Camino Pucón Huife, Km 28, Pucón, 4920000, Chile

This hotel is set on a stunning, 48-hectare (119-acre) property dominated by native forests and biking and hiking trails. There is a lot to like here, beginning with the restaurant, La Fleur de Sel, which produces amazing, five-star meals using local ingredients, but with a French flair. Termas Aguas Calientes

$$ | Chile

The triangular-shaped cabins at this hotel are surprisingly well-equipped, with kitchens, Internet, cable TV, and phones. Each of the two types of cabins—superior (split level) and tourist (one floor)—are a good option for groups and families, sleeping 4 to 10 people. The so-called tourist cabins are more simply furnished and do not include maid service. They also offer domos, which can comfortably sleep two people. But the main reason to stay are the thermal pools, which are included in the price of the cabin. Day visits to the pools are also possible for 26,000 pesos, and the spa has massages (including a chocolate massage) and facial treatments.

Pros

  • Thermal pools
  • Kitchen in cabins
  • Cheap option for families or groups

Cons

  • Lack of privacy
  • The older cabins are showing their age
  • Hot springs get crowded

Termas Puyehue Wellness and Spa Resort

$$$$ | Ruta 215, Km 76, Puyehue, 5360000, Chile

This grandiose stone-and-wood hot springs resort sits on the edge of Parque Nacional Puyehue. It's an enormous hotel, with three restaurants, four bars, a movie theater, bowling alley, and a long slate of activities from darts to skiing to tennis, in addition to the thermal pools. The rooms and common areas here are a mix of starkly modern and 19th-century Germanic features like chrome, hardwoods, and even some modern art. While you may opt for a lower room rate with just breakfast included, the best bet may be the hotel's all-inclusive rate, which includes meals, drinks, excursions, and use of the pools and thermal baths in the price of the room (rates drop dramatically outside of summer months). The hotel also offers an all-day pass to use the springs and pools, with meals included, if you prefer not to stay overnight.

Pros

  • Restaurants, bars, and activities on-site
  • Thermal pools
  • All-inclusive benefits

Cons

  • Some of the older rooms are in need of updates
  • Pools can get crowded
  • Rates substantially higher in summer
