Arches National Park
Arches lies in the middle of one of the adventure capitals of the United States. Deep canyons and towering walls are everywhere you look. Thousand-foot sandstone walls draw rock climbers from across the globe. Hikers can choose from shady canyons or red rock ridges that put you in the company of the West’s big sky. The Colorado River forms the southeast boundary of the park and can give you every grade of white-water adventure.
Moab-based outfitters can set you up for any sport you may have a desire to try: mountain biking, ATVs, dirt bikes, four-wheel-drive vehicles, kayaking, climbing, stand-up paddleboarding, and even skydiving. Within the park, it's best to stick with basics such as hiking, sightseeing, and photography. Climbers and other adventure seekers should always inquire at the visitor center about restrictions.
