Queen Anne Dispatch

Queen Anne

This dual-purpose shop is a gem for visitors. It doubles as a charming boutique—stocked with locally made women’s fashion, jewelry, and gifts—and a shipping store, so you can browse for souvenirs and send them home in one stop (or get a little shopping in while mailing treasures you picked up elsewhere).

Radici Market

Eastern Market

The name means "roots" in Italian, and this little shop has quickly settled its roots into the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The charming owners have created a warm and inviting gathering spot and store with its brick walls, Venetian glass light fixtures, terra-cotta tiles, beautiful food, and handmade Italian gift displays and tables both inside and out. This is a lovely spot for an afternoon pick-me-up of espresso and cannoli or an end-of-day glass of wine and cicchetti Veneziani (small bites). You'll also find everything you need for an Italian-themed picnic. Wine tastings are held on Thursday evening.

Serendipity12th

12 South

Located in its current location since 2021, Serendipity has been a 12South staple since 2001. You'll still find lots and lots of gifts for everyone. Travel games, novelty items, little books, and locally made candles with scents such as "Nashville" (whiskey and leather) abound. This store also stocks women's clothing and accessories and has quite a collection of children's books, games, and more.

Shell World

Lots of shops in the Keys sell cheesy souvenirs—snow globes, alligator hats, shell-encrusted anything—and this is the granddaddy of them all. But at this sprawling building in the median of the Overseas Highway, you'll also find high-end clothing, jewelry, housewares, artwork, and keepsakes that range from delightfully tacky to tasteful.

SIDESHOW

Fells Point

The museum store at the American Visionary Art Museum features over 2,000 square feet of books, jewelry, cards, toys, accessories, costumes, and other novelties. Only a fun and wacky place like this would have a coin-operated Zoltar Machine (the same as in the movie Big) and Whoopee cushions. Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake comes here to buy her fabulous costume jewelry. There's a second location inside the Lord Baltimore Hotel.

Silver Hills Trading Co.

This store offers everything from Native American jewelry to Southwestern and Old West souvenirs, including replica guns and Tombstone sheriff badges.

Soap Plant/Wacko

Los Feliz

This pop-culture supermarket offers a wide range of items, including rows of books on art and design. But it's the novelty stock that makes the biggest impression, with ant farms, X-ray specs, and anime figurines for sale. An adjacent gallery space, La Luz de Jesus, focuses on underground art.

SpongeBob StorePants

Universal Studios

With its cartoonish nautical theme (pink jellyfish overhead, a pineapple home in the middle of the store), this silly shop will have you stocking up on weird, fascinating SpongeBob merchandise from mugs to shorts to swimwear.

Star Traders

Magic Kingdom

One of the largest shops in the Magic Kingdom, Star Traders trades on the purchase of all things Disney. Toys, pins, T-shirts featuring favorite characters like Mickey, Stitch, and Mike from Monsters, Inc. can be found here, as well as Goofy caps and oversize Mickey gloves. So much to see—so much to buy!

Star Wars Galactic Outpost

Disney Springs

Who knew that the 1977 film that spawned an industry of collectible merchandise would get a significant boost when Disney obtained the franchise in 2012? Since then Disney's creative, marketing, and merchandising genius has been applied to a range of spin-off films, as well as an array of new products, many of which are for sale in this popular West Side shop. While there are hundreds of shirts, hats, masks, toys, plushes, costumes, action figures, art, and mugs—with nearly every item featuring Luke, Leia, Hans, Darth, Chewbacca, Yoda, and company—the most popular display is the rack of (not your average) lightsabers designed for the Star Wars connoisseur, with prices surpassing $250.
