Farmacia

North End

Open in a part of the Ciao Roma space, this apothecary-inspired cocktail bar boasts only nine seats and hundreds of cocktail potentials. During one of his ticketed progressive journeys, creator Phillip Rolfe (of Wink & Nod fame) creates individually tailored concoctions made from high-end spirits, homemade syrups, infusions and tinctures, and freshly cold-pressed juices. House-made pickles, dips, roasted nuts, and gelato pair nicely but aren't meant to fill you up. Because it's so small, Farmacia is booked two months out, so plan accordingly.

Fastnet Pub

Named for the Fastnet Lighthouse off the coast of Cork, Ireland, this pub hosts Irish jam sessions on Sunday evening, when guest musicians, singers, and dancers familiar with traditional Irish repertoire are invited to participate. Soccer matches bring out raucous crowds that fill the interior as well as the courtyard out back. Irish beers and ciders are on draft, and the food menu includes bangers and beans along with the usual fish-and-chips and burgers.

The Feast at Mokapu

Held on the grounds of the posh Andaz, it's no surprise that this oceanfront luau is elevated to luxurious heights. A live band sets the soundtrack for an evening of storytelling, traditional and modern dance from across Polynesia, and an energetic fire-knife dance. The onstage performance is matched by eye-catching culinary creations delivered directly to your table and served family style. Indeed, standard luau fare goes gourmet with a multicourse dinner that blends traditional foods with modern flare. Preshow cultural activities, an open bar, and a complimentary printed photo are additional perks.

Federation Brewing Company

Jack London Square

Part of Oakland's Ale Trail, the brewery has a convivial tasting room in the Jack London District with plenty of games for extended sipping of their pilsners, saisons, sours, and hoppy IPAs. Their outdoor seating area includes booth areas made of repurposed shipping containers. The taproom hosts live music and events a few nights a month, so make sure to check their calendar.

Fergie's Pub

Center City East

Fergus \"Fergie\" Carey is the jovial proprietor of this casual, cozy, and beloved bar, which has been around longer than most establishments of its ilk in Philly. The taproom, which serves solid craft beer and comfort food, hosts regular entertainment, including music, poetry, Quizzo, and even live theater. There are no televisions on the premises, as Carey believes in the lost art of conversation.

Fia Fia Luau

Just after sunset at the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club, the charismatic Chief Sielu Avea leads the Samoan-based Fia Fia, an entertaining show that takes guests on the journey through the South Pacific. Every show is different and unscripted, but always a good look at Polynesian culture. It's the only recurring show with eight fire-knife dancers in a blazing finale. It's held on Tuesday at 4:30. Admission includes a buffet dinner.

The Fifth Element

This chic bar and restaurant, a popular locals hangout, offers specialty cocktails and elevated pub fare amid a smattering of pizzas and Mexican-inspired apps and entrees.

The Fifth Floor at The Chelsea

At the Boardwalk's premier boutique hotel, revelers can choose from three distinct options, all part of the nightlife collection known as "The Fifth Floor." The Cabana Club is a pool and deck that hosts daytime weekend parties and dancing until 4am on weekend nights. Inside the Cabana Club is the stylish C5 cocktail lounge, where DJs spin and the trendy shoot pool. It's even more laid back at the neighboring Living Room, where champagne and conversation flows and views are taken in from the outdoor terrace.

FiftyFifty Brewing Company

At the high-ceilinged brewpub of Truckee's pioneering craft-beer producer, opened in 2007, the soothing gray tones plus a pint of the Donner Party porter or Eclipse barrel-aged imperial stout will take the edge off a cold day on the slopes. The food lineup includes salads, burgers, inventive pizzas, barbecued ribs, pan-seared salmon, and the house specialty: a pulled pork sandwich.

The Fillmore

Western Addition

This is the club that all the big names, from Coldplay to Clapton, want to play. San Francisco's most famous rock-music hall presents national and local acts: rock, reggae, grunge, jazz, folk, acid house, and more. Go upstairs to view the amazing collection of rock posters lining the walls. At the end of each show, free apples are set near the door, and staffers hand out collectible posters.

Avoid steep service charges by purchasing tickets at the club's box office on Sunday from 10 to 4.

The Fillmore

Western Addition

With performances by everyone from the Counting Crows to Jimi Hendrix, this legendary auditorium dating back to 1912 has seen it all. It remains one of San Francisco's essential concert destinations for a variety of music styles. Check out the cool collection of rock posters upstairs before the show and enjoy complimentary apples after—a fun tradition for concertgoers.

Fillmore Auditorium

Capitol Hill

Denver's classic San Francisco concert hall spin-off looks dumpy on the outside, but it's elegant and impressive inside. Before catching a big-name act such as Rise Against or Wizkid, scan the walls for color photographs of past club performers.

The Fillmore Philadelphia

Fishtown

Since its opening in 2015, the 25,000-square-foot Fillmore has seen sold-out shows featuring everyone from local musicians to top-40 singers. The venue is the first of its kind in Fishtown, introducing a rock club experience for the 21st century. Three raised balconies provide solid sight lines for as many as 2,500 concertgoers, with a secondary club, the Foundry, holding about 450 for smaller concerts and late-night dance parties.

Final Draft Brewing Company

This spacious brick-walled brewpub receives high acclaim for its accessible ales and above-average pub grub. Try the beer-battered Sidewinder Fries instead of regular ones. While they're cooking, order a sampler flight to decide which of the brews to wash them down with.

Fine Line Music Café

Downtown

The intimate Fine Line Music Café gets you up close and personal to locally and nationally known rock musicians.

Firehouse Wine Cellars

Located next door to the Firehouse Brewing Company pub and restaurant, this winery in a busy but relaxed setting offers wine tasting and sales of bottled wine and wine-related merchandise.

The Fireside

Warmed by an open fire pit and a roaring fireplace, and decorated with lots of wood and leather, this cozy campfire-chic spot on Nob Hill's retail strip serves one of the best happy hours in the city, wallet-friendly appetizers made from Oregon-sourced ingredients, and well-crafted cocktails.

Fireside Lounge

Amid the neon-bright gambling areas at the Peppermill Casino, this lounge is a blast for its over-the-top decor and equally exotic cocktails. The signature drink, the 64-ounce Scorpion, leads with Myers's dark rum and vodka, with cherry brandy and grenadine disguising the concoction's potency.

Fish Co.

Marina and skyline views, a waterfront deck, live tunes, beer buckets, frozen concoctions, and the city's best clam cakes and chowder make this indoor-outdoor bar and grill on the Fox Point waterfront an ideal place to unwind or catch a game. The name is a nod to a time when the docks below were the domain of fishermen, not pleasure boaters.

Fisher's Bar

For a bit of local color, head down to Fraser and the rustic and inviting Fisher's Bar. Owned by a local brother-and-sister duo, this bar and eatery is filled with local memorabilia and antiques, as well as lots of TVs, which draw sports-loving crowds. Locals still show up for the cheap beer during happy hour, as well as for the excellent burgers. In warmer months, the outdoor picnic area has a horseshoe pit.

Fitzgerald's

Georgetown

Sexy, elegant, and slightly hidden, Fitzgerald's is the epitome of a Washington, D.C., cocktail bar. Plush emerald-green furniture and leather couches contrast with the brass fixtures and the 1960s paintings of football players. Aside from getting a martini, the bar offers classic bar fare, such as burgers.

FitzGerald's Nightclub

Although it's a 30-minute schlep west of downtown Chicago, FitzGerald's draws crowds from all over the city and suburbs with its mix of folk, jazz, blues, zydeco, and rock. This early 1900s roadhouse has both great sound and sight lines. There's a menu of fantastic barbecue fare from Babygold, the adjoining restaurant. During the family-friendly Sunday brunch, it's paired with live acts that run the gamut from classic country to New Orleans funk.

Fives

French Quarter

This intimate bar is considered the most sophisticated (albeit pricey) place to get a drink on Jackson Square, where patrons can also get quality raw oysters from the Gulf and East Coasts. The crowd around the large marble horseshoe bar is always lively and stylish, and drinks are served with flair: the Columns Martini comes with its own crystal-bowlful of pickled vegetables.

Flagship Brewing Company

Stapleton

Each of New York’s five boroughs has embraced the craft beer trend and Staten Island is no exception. Located just a short walk from the ferry terminal, this proudly Staten Island microbrewery has a sizable taproom that plays an eclectic music playlist (almost always including an obligatory Wu-Tang song or two) for the patrons playing cornhole, or convening at one of its long communal tables. On tap: their rotating lagers, pilsners, stouts, and IPAs—Blood Orange being one of the more popular ones—all made in the other room.

Flamingo Cocktail Club

Wedgewood-Houston

Drawing inspiration from Miami clubs of the 1950s and ’60s, this space has a large open area and minimalist seating. They host theme parties (disco, for example), live jazz, workshops for makers and creatives, and other special events, including yoga and sound baths.

Flappers Comedy Club

Burbank

Although this live comedy club doesn’t have as long a history as others in town (it opened in 2010), it's attracted an impressive list of big names like Jerry Seinfeld, Whitney Cummings, and Adam Sandler thanks to its Celebrity Drop-In Tuesdays. Laughs can be had by adults every night of the week but all ages are only allowed at the family-friendly Saturday afternoon sets. All shows require both a ticket and a two food-or-drink minimum per person.
