Even if you're not a big fan of gaming, this attractive hotel on the bay and boardwalk in North Bend (a short distance north of downtown Coos Bay) makes a handy, comfortable, and relatively affordable base for exploring this stretch of the coast. The hotel's snazziest rooms are in the newer tower, which has grand views of the bay, but the comfy lodge-style rooms in the older building are brightened by colorful Pendleton blankets and rustic furniture. This floating B&B is in a fully operational stern-wheeler that's permanently moored at the Newport Marina, where guests have front-row seats to all the boating activity around Yaquina Bay, and it's a short walk from Oregon Coast Aquarium.
