Cannery Pier Hotel

$$$$ | 10 Basin St., Astoria, OR, 97103, USA Fodor's Choice

From every room in this captivating property and also the inviting Bar 600 cocktail lounge, there's a gorgeous view of the mighty Columbia River flowing toward the Pacific Ocean; and it's almost hypnotic to watch the tugboats shepherding barges to and fro. Built upon century-old pilings, the hotel occupies the restored Union Fisherman's Cooperative Packing Company building, an integral part of the town's history, but the interior is modern and bright, with a liberal use of glass and polished wood, including hardwood floors. The Astoria Riverwalk and the trolley line are on the doorstep, with the exceptional Bridgewater Bistro restaurant within walking distance. Replica 1950s bicycles are available, as is complimentary chauffeur service in a 1939 Buick, 1938 Packard, or 1945 Cadillac.

Pros

  • Luxurious bathrooms
  • Complimentary afternoon wine and lox
  • Hotel hot tub and day spa

Cons

  • Pricey
  • A bit of a walk from downtown
