What better way to celebrate the upcoming National Gingerbread House Day (Dec. 12) than by taking some inspiration from some of the most acclaimed examples of confectionary architecture?
The 24th Annual National Gingerbread House Competition, hosted by the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, brought together some of the world’s most talented culinary enthusiasts to compete for the grand prize of $8,500. The challenge: build the best gingerbread house possible, with designs being judged on overall appearance, creativity, difficulty, precision, and consistency of theme. The confectionary real estate also needed to meet the requirement of being made of at least 75 percent gingerbread.
