Downtown Wellfleet is best approached on foot; along the way you’ll find many art galleries and clothing boutiques. You’ll pay a handsome premium for fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers behind the Town Hall at Hatch’s—but what a beautiful display. There’s also the Wellfleet Marketplace for groceries, books, beer, and wine. In the height of summer, the price is worth not having to drive 15 miles to Orleans. The Wednesday-morning Wellfleet Farmers’ Market, held behind the Congregational Church (200 Main Street), is a fine place to fill your basket with local food. The Wellfleet Flea Market draws people from all over the Cape who drive the distance to find bargains.
