The Press Hotel

119 Exchange St., Portland, Maine, 04101, USA

Housed in a former newspaper building, this boutique hotel is part of the Marriott group—though you'd never guess it. The pared-down, midcentury-modern aesthetic has a fun typography and printing theme running throughout that alluding to the building's past. The hotel feels both broadly cosmopolitan and distinctly Maine; many of the furnishings were created by Maine artisans like Thos. Moser, and the sophisticated art gallery on the bottom floor features the work of contemporary Maine artists.

  • sparkling-clean rooms with a modern-design feel
  • art gallery and excellent public spaces with tasteful furnishings
  • Frette bed linens and Maine-made Cuddledown comforters and bed throws
