This trendy boutique hotel, which is right in the center of the South Beach action, merges two refurbished, archetypal, 1939 art deco buildings into a single project of eclectic modernism, with whimsically decorated interiors that are at once trippy and cool. One of the best values among River Walk hotels, the Drury Inn & Suites is located in the historic 1921 Petroleum Commerce Building. Ask for a room with a terrace overlooking the river. This isn't a posh or luxurious getaway, but if you're on a budget or want a kid-friendly hotel, you can't beat it. There's a heated rooftop pool and whirlpool and in-room amenities include free Wi-Fi. There's also a free hot breakfast buffet and an afternoon free dinner buffet reception with two free alcoholic beverages.

Across from the sports complex, this chain hotel offers clean, comfortable rooms. Make reservations well ahead of time during sporting events.

Focused on families and just ½ mile from Disney Springs, this high-rise property features comfortable accommodations equipped with microwaves, refrigerators, and flat-screen TVs. "Dua" meaning love and desire in Albanian, is the theme of this new hotel in the heart of Brickell. All but 11 rooms have balconies, showcasing the Financial District with the ocean peeking through the skyscrapers. The whimsical decor with thousands of mirrors as the focal point give this hotel a confident, young, and vibrant feel. The stunning amenities include two large swimming pools, a hot and cold plunge, an extensive gym with a steam room and sauna, and large changing rooms.

Featured on Hotel Impossible in 2012, this downtown institution has come a long way from the dump it once was. It still has a Western theme (think custom carpet featuring cattle brands) that borders on tacky, but most guests say it's just part of the charm. That said, rooms 223, 224, and 226, which are especially popular around Halloween, are known for their paranormal activity. The property was actually built in 1950 using bricks from an old hospital.

This is one of the few nice, co-ed places to stay in this ever-popular, gay-friendly, and notoriously fun Fire Island community, with apartments on or near the ocean and a common ocean deck providing direct beach access. In a quiet part of the community, it's just a short walk to town and the nightlife, and provides a quiet refuge from Cherry Grove's wild side. Each apartment has a simple, modern design and a kitchen or kitchenette.
