Safety

Savannah officials are serious about your safety, and you’ll notice both police cars and security patrol cars throughout the downtown area. The streets are safe for pedestrians during the day, but at night you should exercise reasonable caution, especially in poorly lit areas along the perimeter of the Historic District. Always lock your car and remove valuables that are visible through the windows. Utilize your hotel's safe for your cash and valuables. Keep handy phone numbers for taxi companies.
