Shipwright Inn B&B

$$ | 51 Fitzroy St., Charlottetown, PE, C1A 1R4, Canada

The name of this cottage-y 1860s inn is a nod to the first owner's occupation, and its charming accommodations further attest to his seafaring ways (the Captain's Quarters, the Navigator's Retreat---you get the picture). A nautical motif is highlighted throughout. Several rooms, for instance, have original floors made from marine-grade pine planks, and ship-theme memorabilia is prominently displayed. The sustaining four-course breakfast and afternoon tea (both free) are memorable. Ditto for the friendly hosts. For extra-special stays, ask about the romance and golf packages.

Pros

  • Downtown location with pretty garden
  • Some rooms have balconies and fireplaces
  • Off-street private parking

Cons

  • Lots of knickknacks
  • Five rooms are not original
  • Decor can be a bit old-fashioned
